Dancers mimic the fluttering of butterflies, believed to appear just before rain, in a ritual appeal for a successful harvest. Such masks reflect the Bwa’s spiritual connection to Do, the forest spirit and life force, and are central to ceremonies honoring nature, ancestors, and the cycle of life.
