Return Policy

Hemingway African Gallery accepts returns on select non-fragile items, including wooden masks, wire sculptures, jewelry, and other approved objects that can be safely repacked and shipped by the customer.

Due to the fragile nature and professional packing requirements of certain works, we do not accept returns on furniture, Shona stone sculpture, large-scale objects, or any item that requires custom or professional packing for safe transport.

To request a return, customers must contact us by email within 7 days of delivery. Return requests made after this period may not be accepted. Items must be returned in the same condition in which they were received.

Return shipping is the responsibility of the customer. We strongly recommend using a trackable shipping service and insuring the package for its full value. Hemingway African Gallery is not responsible for items lost or damaged during return shipment.

Once the item has been received at the gallery and inspected, store credit will be issued for the approved return. Store credit will not be issued for items that are returned damaged, altered, or not in their original condition.

Damages and Issues

Please inspect your order upon delivery and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged, or if you receive the wrong item. This allows us to evaluate the issue and work with you to make it right.

Shipping Policies

For large pieces, you are responsible for all shipping costs (including crating and insurance), calculated on an actual cost basis for large pieces. Because of this, buyers will be contacted, after the sale, with shipping options. Free Shipping is available for Hand Crafted Masks and some other items in Fine Art. 

Hemingway African Gallery expertly packs all pieces. In the occurrence of an accident, all damaged items must be reported to us within 3 days of delivery. 

Hemingway African Gallery works with carriers including USPS, FedEx, and Service By Air as well as several fine art handling companies. The carrier selected for your purchase is dependent on the item’s origin and shipping destination, as well as its packaging and handling requirements. Oversized orders may be packaged and shipped specifically for and arrive via freight service. We strive to find the best, safe rate for your shipment.
