The Bamileke Double Gong from Cameroon is a functional instrument played with wooden sticks. Traditionally made of iron, these double gongs symbolized the authoritative voice of the Kwifoyn, a male regulatory society. Serving as both a sacred instrument and a powerful emblem of the organization, the gongs represented the society's influence. The Kwifoyn, whose governing body was typically situated near the royal palace, worked closely with the king in matters of rule and governance.
